Auggie
Transformation Story

From Pulling and Barking to Calm and Responsive: Auggie's Transformation

Auggie came into training as a strong, vocal hound mix who had developed some habits that made life tough for his family. Walks weren’t enjoyable because he’d pull hard and bark at other dogs. In the yard, he’d chase cars and ignore recalls completely. He’s a great dog at heart, but the lack of structure was causing frustration on both sides.

During his two-week board and train, I focused on teaching Auggie how to control that energy and respond consistently to his handlers. By the end of his stay, he was walking calmly on leash, coming when called, and holding a place command — skills that gave his family a whole new level of control and peace of mind.

The best part is seeing how those changes carry over at home. Now even the kids can work with him, and the family has the confidence to take Auggie on trips they used to avoid. That’s the payoff for me: watching a dog go from a daily struggle to a real companion the family can enjoy anywhere.

5 Things to Do with Your New Puppy to Lay the Right Foundation

Bringing a new puppy into your home is exciting, but it’s also a big responsibility. The first few weeks are crucial for setting your pup up for a lifetime of good behavior, confidence, and a strong bond with you. Here are five foundational things to focus on from day one:

1. Establish a consistent routine
Puppies thrive on predictability. Set regular times for feeding, potty breaks, walks, and play. A consistent schedule helps them feel secure and makes house-training much easier.

2. Begin socialization early
Expose your puppy to a variety of sights, sounds, people, and other dogs in a controlled, positive way. The goal is to create confident, adaptable dogs who aren’t fearful of new experiences.

3. Introduce basic obedience gently
Start with simple commands like sit, come, and leave it. Keep training sessions short, positive, and fun. Early obedience builds trust and communication between you and your puppy.

4. Focus on bite inhibition and gentle play
Puppies explore the world with their mouths, so teaching bite inhibition early prevents problems down the line. Redirect mouthing to toys and reward calm, gentle interactions.

5. Bond through calm, structured interaction
Play, cuddle, and spend quality time with your puppy, but also teach them to relax and settle. A puppy that knows how to be calm on cue is happier, healthier, and easier to live with.

Starting your puppy off with these foundations sets the stage for a confident, well-adjusted dog — and a lifelong partnership built on trust and understanding.

Bella
Transformation Story

Bella Finds Calm + Connection

I watched Bella calmly wait for Ashley to open the door for guests — a moment that would have been total chaos just weeks earlier. That pause, that focus, wasn’t just obedience; it was trust. Bella had always been reactive, pulling on the leash and barking at anything that moved, and it had pushed Ashley to the brink of tears.

Over our two-week training program, I focused on teaching Bella to read and respond to cues while giving Ashley the tools to guide her confidently. By the end, walks became enjoyable, off-leash adventures were safe, and having company over was no longer stressful. More than behavior change, what struck me most was the bond that deepened — Ashley and Bella now communicate in a language of trust, respect, and love. Moments like this remind me why I do this work: helping dogs and their humans reconnect in a way that transforms everyday life.

Gregg
Transformation Story

Gregg Learns to Thrive

When Kaitlyn and her boyfriend brought Greg to me, he was highly reactive — both to other dogs and people. Walks had become stressful, and they couldn’t even enjoy having guests over without worry. Over his two-week boarding and training program, I focused on creating a foundation of trust and structure, teaching Greg to respond calmly and reliably to commands while building his confidence.

But training isn’t just about the dog — it’s about the family too. I worked closely with Kaitlyn and her boyfriend at every step, showing them exactly how to reinforce the skills we were building so they could confidently continue at home. By the end of the program, Greg wasn’t just following commands — he was thriving. Walks became enjoyable, visitors felt welcome, and the family gained a new sense of freedom knowing they were in control.

Follow-up sessions ensure the progress sticks and allow us to touch up any areas as needed, keeping both dog and owners confident and at ease. Seeing a dog and family reclaim their freedom together is why I do this work, and Greg’s transformation was a perfect example.

Heidi
Transformation Story

Heidi Finds Her Forever-Home

When Stephanie brought Heidi to me, it was clear she carried the weight of a past filled with uncertainty and loss. Every home she had known had been taken from her, and with that came fear — fear that strangers entering her space might threaten her safety. Over the two weeks of boarding and training, my focus wasn’t just on obedience commands; it was on building trust. Through careful attention to my body language, tone, and consistent bonding, I worked to create a space where Heidi felt truly safe — a place where she could choose to follow, rather than react out of anxiety.

By the end of her stay, Heidi hadn’t lost her spunky, joyful personality. Instead, she had developed a newfound confidence and calm. I also guided Stephanie and her family every step of the way, ensuring they had the tools to maintain this progress at home. Watching a dog relax, trust, and thrive — and seeing that peace ripple through the home — is what makes this work so rewarding. Heidi’s transformation is just beginning, and I’m honored to help her continue toward the life she deserves.
