From Pulling and Barking to Calm and Responsive: Auggie's Transformation
2 min read
Auggie came into training as a strong, vocal hound mix who had developed some habits that made life tough for his family. Walks weren’t enjoyable because he’d pull hard and bark at other dogs. In the yard, he’d chase cars and ignore recalls completely. He’s a great dog at heart, but the lack of structure was causing frustration on both sides.
During his two-week board and train, I focused on teaching Auggie how to control that energy and respond consistently to his handlers. By the end of his stay, he was walking calmly on leash, coming when called, and holding a place command — skills that gave his family a whole new level of control and peace of mind.
The best part is seeing how those changes carry over at home. Now even the kids can work with him, and the family has the confidence to take Auggie on trips they used to avoid. That’s the payoff for me: watching a dog go from a daily struggle to a real companion the family can enjoy anywhere.
